Recommendation of the Month -- I want to point out that the next issue of The Comics Journal (#264) has an AMAZING interview with cartoonist Ivan Brunetti.

The only lengthy work I've read of his was HAW!, and I never really knew what to make of it; the guy obviously has a great deal of talent, used it in HAW! in ways that I found hard to understand.

In a long, in-depth interview with Gary Groth, Brunetti talks about his life experiences and how they affected his comics. There's also enough preview strips from Schizo #4 (his next scheduled release) that I am DYING to see the entire thing. If you read TOP SHELF ASKS THE BIG QUESTIONS, you may remember his tribute to Charles Schulz; the new stuff is in that more moderated, formal style, but it's all about his horrific relationships with women. It looks like fascinating stuff, and I bet whichever year it comes out, Schizo #4 is going to be one of the best, most interesting and entertaining comics of the year.

So keep your eyes open for The Comics Journal #264 -- it should be on sale within the next couple of weeks. Ask your retailer.

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to go read the rest of it now.

Evil Eye Help -- I've been trying to put together a set of Evil Eye comics as a gift, but damn if I can't find one last issue to complete the set. If you or your comics shop has Evil Eye #8 (by Richard Sala, published by Fantagraphics) in like-new condition, please e-mail me and I'll make arrangements to buy it from you or your shop.

And special thanks to the always awesome Shawn Hoke finding the next-to-last issue I needed to make the set.

UPDATE: Thanks to Mike at Progressive Ruin, it looks like my Evil Eye quest is over. Be sure to tell him thanks for me the next time you visit Ralph's Comic Corner, won't ya? Thanks again, Mike!
