Previews Review -- Christopher Butcher has posted the new monthly version of Previews Review, and although it's a bit late, most of the books talked about (and this month I am one of the commentators -- thanks, Christopher!) are either still available in most comic shops and better mainstream book retailers (like Eightball #23 and James Kochalka's giant American Elf collection, for example) or haven't quite shipped yet. So give the rundown a look and make sure you hound your retailer for the great comics shipping right about now. As I said to Fantagraphics Books publicist Eric Reynolds a few weeks back, I'm very glad to be alive and reading comics right now. A look at the latest Previews Review is just more evidence of that!

Friday at the CBG Blog -- I haven't had a chance to tweak much of anything yet, because my computer keeps crashing this morning. I've narrowed the problem down to trying to open one e-mail in my inbox, but it doesn't have an attachment so I am flummoxed as to what the freaking problem is.

On the site today, stop by Chris Allen's excellent San Diego Wrapup for the inside scoop on what he saw and did at the year's biggest comics convention. I haven't been to a comics convention since 2000, when I attended one in Westchester County, New York; upstate NY really needs a decent comics convention, but it seems like no one is willing to get it together and make it happen. When I was a teenager the now-defunct FantaCo put on the FantaCon every year in Albany, and other conventions were occasionally held in the region, but those days seem to be long gone.

Now that I'm blogging again, I feel free to bore you with the riveting details of my personal life, so I'll rundown my day so far: Woke up at 1:30 and realized my wife was home from work, came out in the living room and chatted with her while updating the site and rebooting the computer four times after it kept freezing up. Managed to update the site, made some scrambled eggs (organic and free-range) with salsa, fresh chopped cilantro and Monterey Jack cheese and a bagel for breakfast, and now the clock is ticking and I need to get ready to go to work. Like I said, riveting!

If you've got a blog or website, please consider linking to us here and let us know and we'll do the same. You can almost feel the linky-love!

Hopefully I'll get in some more blogging later. Until then, enjoy your Friday morning.

We're Back -- Hi, welcome to the Comic Book Galaxy Blog. It's been four months or so since I gave up blogging, but things have stabilized (except for that brush with death last weekend, but I digress...)

This new CBG Blog, as we kick things off, will be built on the template leftover from my "defunct" ADD Blog, and the archives of that blog are what you see listed in the archives listings at the right of the page. I'm open to suggestions as to whether we should leave that stuff up or start fresh, so drop me a line if you feel so inclined. Also look for some minor tweaks and template changes as we go along...we're ready to roll, but much work remains to be done. Be patient.

Hopefully Chris Allen will be joining me here on the CBG Blog, and we'll get a good back and forth going about the pressing comics issues of the day, as repulsive as they seem to be these days.

Finally, a HUGE thank you to Neilalien at, who spent much of the day today working out the weird technical issues involved in getting the ADD Blog turned into the CBG Blog and from there actually getting it up on this here Computer Internet.

And thanks to all of you for reading Comic Book Galaxy. Tell your friends and drop us a line and let us know how we're doing. E-mail links are in the sidebar on the right.
